Replace a hose. Get a plant running again.
When a hydraulic hose fails, everything stops. A production line, an excavator, a loader in the middle of a job. Somebody has to get there fast, build the right assembly on the spot, and get the machine back to work.
That is what we do, and that is the job.
What it pays
$23.00 – $30.00 per hour depending on experience. Overtime is regular here, not occasional, and it is paid at time and a half.
- $50 on-call stipend every week you carry the phone, whether or not you get called
- Two-hour minimum on every call-out, plus travel in both directions
- Monthly performance bonus based on the revenue your van generates above target
What you will do
- Respond to service calls at customer sites across central Ohio
- Diagnose the failure and identify the correct replacement assembly
- Measure, cut, crimp, and build hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies on site
- Install, test, and return the customer's equipment to service
- Keep your van stocked, clean, and inspected
- Build relationships with the customers on your route
- Take your turn in the after-hours on-call rotation
This is an emergency service business. Hoses fail at night and on weekends, and when they do, someone goes. You will be on call roughly one week in three. You are paid the stipend for carrying the phone even on a quiet week, and every call-out pays a minimum of two hours plus travel, at overtime rates when you are over 40.
You will also be out in the weather year-round, and you will get dirty. That is the job. Some people find that a good deal. Some people do not. We would rather you know now.
What we are looking for
- Mechanically inclined — you like figuring out how things work and fixing them
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Comfortable talking to customers, because you are the whole company as far as they are concerned
- Self-motivated, because most of the day nobody is watching over your shoulder
- Able to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet
- Willing to carry the on-call phone
- High school diploma or GED
What else you get
- Company service van, with take-home available
- PIRTEK certified training — paid, and yours to keep
- Uniforms provided
- Paid time off — one week your first year, two weeks after that — plus six paid holidays
- Health benefit: we put $400 a month, tax-free, toward the health plan you pick — worth more than $400 of wages, because it never gets taxed. You own the plan, so you keep it if you ever leave here. We help you enroll.
- Dental and vision — employer-paid group coverage
- Advancement. Technicians may have opportunity to move into other service management and operations roles. Some PIRTEK technicians have gone on to own franchises.
PIRTEK Marion is locally owned and operated, and we are opening our Delaware service center this fall. You would be one of our first technicians — training starts in October, ahead of opening.
We are backed by a national franchise network, which means real training and real standards without working for a faceless company. The owner answers the phone. We care about doing the job right, telling the truth about what happened, and getting people home safe at the end of the day.
Be part of one of the fastest-growing franchises in the U.S. while keeping America's essential industries operating.
PIRTEK is committed to providing world-class service while helping others in the organization succeed. We embrace change and innovation, and strive to be giving participants in the communities we serve. Above all, PIRTEK values integrity as we hold ourselves fully and personally accountable in all our dealings.
We provide our customers with the fastest hydraulic and industrial hose maintenance and replacement services through on-site mobile and retail PIRTEK Service & Supply centers throughout the United States.
Whether you're just starting or looking to advance your career, you'll find a supportive culture with teams characterized by honesty and integrity. As a Mobile Sales and Service Technician, you will be helping a small business owner grow their local business and enjoy a career where no two days are the same. You will also be provided a company vehicle to use while commuting to and from work.
PIRTEK franchises are locally owned and operated by people interested in your success. Many Mobile Sales and Service Technicians go on to become Operation Managers, Business Managers, and even Franchise Owners themselves.
This franchise is independently owned and operated by a franchisee. Your application will go directly to the franchisee, and all hiring decisions will be made by the management of this franchisee. All inquiries about employment at this franchisee should be made directly to the franchise location, and not to PIRTEK Corporate.
